The Local Grade is excited to be the singular online carrier for the Secret Brush Shop! Secret Brush Shop (SBS) is headquartered in Boone, NC and handmakes some of the finest boars hair climbing brushes around. Each brush utilizes the finest rhododendron hardwood, sourced from the same ridges and mountains as your favorite Appalachian crags and boulderfields. Every branch is hand selected from “standing deadwood” so that no rhododendron is ever harmed in the process. SBS brushes are pruned, carved and whittled, shaped and sanded, painted and clear coated, and bristles applied, all in-house and by hand.

This little one is fun to use, and can fit anywhere. Complete with a chestnut stain at the top of the brush and with black and red painted accents that work together with the clear-coated woodgrain throughout the brush body. You’ll find a natural ridge down the center that still retains the outer bark and cambium for an extra natural aesthetic. Just over 4in long, this is a narrow handled brush that will fit into any bag or bucket and most any exterior elastic band. The bristles are sourced from North Carolina and were set to give a softer brush feel, perfect for indoor or outdoor use. The rhododendron branch came from Pisgah National Forest, near the Tanawha Trail along the Grandfather Mountain landform.
